Fun afternoon of fishing with my dad.  We caught some bluegills and served them up as bait for the 5 big bass we reeled in.  The last bass ended up snapping my st croix rod, but was able to hang onto it.  I’m searching for a replacement piece.  I guess considering the fun time of catching some decent size bass with my dad, the ~$30 cost isnt bad…

Saturday, August 23, 2008…. a long summer

It’s been a long summer. Lots of little projects finished, surprise home repairs, and visits to the zoo and aquarium…
All in all, just thankful that we’re all doing ok and keeping our heads above water with $4/gallon gas… My neighbors and family have been very helpful in getting many of our projects planned, started and finished… Redo landscaping (with new trees, bushes, rock, and edging), built a pond and waterfall, cable line cut/fixed within 1day, watched the new cable line sit above ground for 3+ weeks, added a ladder to our garage attic, new sprinkler system (just wrote the check for this one), painted the basement floor and steps, kids bathroom redo (new tile, new vanity, new mirror, new lightfixture), little roof leak above garage, lost power phase (COMED SUCKS AND THEY CAN KISS MY @$$), cut and mended deck thanks to @#%!%#$ COMED), water heater deciding to not heat and to heat at will, and killed some wasp nests.

Meanwhile also worked from home since about March 2008. Quite thankful and relieved that working from home is both productive and cost effective for my company and family budget…

With all the drama this summer, there’s a lot to be thankful for…
