holy crap & the 7 principles of fat burning…

While driving home last night, somebody cut me off.  Depending on my mood, I’m liable to say anything… in the midst of sort of swerving, Analise said the funniest thing….. she said in her 3yr old voice… ‘Holy Crap’….  i swear, it was the funniest thing…. she absolutely amazes us with her commentary, most of which is PG13…  About 99% of the time, she has an answer for everything, but now and again, she’ll stop, think and just say, I dont know and gives us a puzzled look…

I’ve tried many many different workouts and diets, but never really had a good understanding about food and nutrition.  Granted, I won’t disppell the long term benefits of the p90x program, which I only got through day 45 of the 90 day program.  While I have unsuccessfully restarted this program several times since August 2009, I intend to complete the 90day program one day…From my last visit, my chiropractor, Jason Kaapke, shared with me this book called, 7 Principles of Fat Burning by Eric Berg.  I picked it up from the Orland Park Border’s Books and began reading it.  So far, I’ve really enjoyed and learned a lot from it.  I normally dislike eating vegetables, thinking they dont taste good or dont fill me up.  In the last week, I’ve been living on nearly 100% raw vegetables, fruit and nuts.  It also involves drinking a detox drink 3x daily made of cranberry juice, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar and some apple juice…. you have just enough other stuff to offset the vinegar flavor….  also, there’s a green foods drink that I have 3x daily as well.  It can be best described as what I imaged fresh cut grass dust in water would taste like…  I’m used to it now, so I can down 8oz of it in 2-3 gulps without hesitation…

Anyway, I’ve lost about 5lbs, but it all comes down to how my eating and drinking habits may have been permanently changed… I have lost the cravings of salty food, sugary food, and fried foods…  Feeling full through eating lots of vegetables, fruits, and nuts sounded so foreign to me, but my energy levels are up and my mood has been fairly level…  I haven’t gone bipolar on my wife and kids in over a week.   My mood usually fluctuates on how full or hungry I may be at the time.  These days, I’m feeling good steadily through the day.  Even when I’m getting hungry, I’m not hitting any crabby spells that used to happen x times daily…

Once  the detoxing is over, I can reintroduce foods based on my body type.  In the book itself, you take a quiz and you fall into a body type category which helps dictate what foods and exercise you should focus on.  I will try to report back on how this goes, but so far I’m eating and feeling better….

Happy Birthday Aidan!

Happy Birthday to Aidan Finkle!  We’ll be seeing later today!

Well, Analise had a mostly uneventful chemo visit yesterday.  Thank God.

Today I took she and Sophia for a dentist visit.  Sophia did real well and Analise not so much.  Analise was good up until it was her turn and she fought it all the way.  Had to help hold her while Jennifer, cleaned her teeth.  When Dr Vicki checked her, Analise decided to bit her finger.  Hope she’s ok…

Paisley Shae Deanching

Wow, I neglected to post our birth announcement here.  I posted on facebook, but that’s no excuse.

Please Welcome Paisley Shae Deanching, born 3/27/10 @ 2:53am,  8lbs 7oz, 22″.  She was delivered by Dr Williams @ Palos Community Hospital.  She has delivered all 3 of our daughters!

Sorry for the late posting.

Congratulations to Carly! Her mom, Trace, just found out that Carly is still in remission!  God Bless her and their family.

thank God, radiation to be postponed…

Thank God, the oncologists have chosen to continue Analise’s chemo regiment and postpone radiation…

While Analise’s tumor has remained stable and show some minimal shrinkage, the doctors were contemplating starting radiation treatments.  While radiation has shown to be effective on certain tumors, we are fearful of the possible effects on her cognitive development.  The oncologists didn’t want to start any sooner than 3yrs of age, which Analise turned 2weeks ago.  Due to the broad spectrum of radiation that would span over her head, neck, and back (spine), there’s potential for side effects.  Any delay in radiation treatment would benefit her in lessening this potential.

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers for Analise and our family!

yoga before midnight….

Sushi served in the cafeteria today…. got the bug and promised to bring some home for melissa…  @ 4:30pm, the ride home was errand packed….   First, had to fill-up at 63rd/i355.  Meanwhile discussed p90x with Trent, former coworker and current p90x co-pilot….  Dropped by Orland to see Robin, our jeweler, to get a watch repaired.  Then off to the pet store for a quick pickup.  Then dropped by the salon to drop off something to Nikki and off to Bestbuy.  At Bestbuy, got a price reduction / price match.  Then to Ichiro to order some sushi… the off to Blockbuster to drop of some movies… then dropped by Gas City to get lottery tickets… finally home, 6:45pm…

Today was packed with calls to/from former workers.  Besides Trent, I spoke to 2 for Wachovia people.  Robert, gave me a call and we caught up with work and family.  Good to hear from him and hear all is going well with his family and work.

Congrats to Casie’s daughter who has be accepted to Whitney Young and thank you to Casie for her Yoga pep talk.

I arrived home with Analise screaming, ‘popcorn party’….. they had already eaten spaghetti for dinner and were snacking on some popcorn…  Melissa and I ate some sushi and watched American Idol….  and stared at a mountain of folded laundry…

Analise and Sophia spent the night combing melissa’s hair and then the bath before routine…Getting them to bed wasn’t too much of a struggle… I explained how we eat and digest food and how we breathe to Sophia…. she seemed interested and seemed to get it… we’ll see….   Ana on the other hand was a bit stubborn tonight, so I stepped aside for melissa to get her ready….

Kids were asleep by 830pm and I was dreading the thought of moving…. Sushi might have won the battle of the evening…. but I kept thinking about Brian, my p90x coach and motivator… and my recent conversations with Trent and Casie…. after watching Lost and the remainder of American Idol… I popped in the p90x Yoga X dvd….. after 35min into a 90min Yoga session, I hung it up….  I was already drenched in sweat and ready to finish for the night…. Tony Horton had me at the 35min mark when he said we could pause and take a water break…. I was good and done…

Have a good night and God Bless!
